Sigma Xi Honors and Awards

John P. McGovern Science and Society Award

Each year since 1984, the McGovern Award has recognized achievement by a scientist or engineer that transcends their career as a researcher. Past recipients of this award represent a broad spectrum of individuals whose varied activities supported research, the communication of science and the impact of science on society. 

Evan Ferguson Award

The Evan Ferguson Award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding service to the Society and its mission. 

Monie A Ferst Award 

This national award is sponsored by the Georgia Institute of Technology Chapter of Sigma Xi and recognizes those who have made “notable contributions to the motivation and encouragement of research through education.

Outstanding Distinguished Scientist Award

The Texas A&M University Chapter of Sigma Xi accepts nominations for the Sigma Xi Outstanding Distinguished Scientist Award annually.

Walston Chubb Innovation Award

Since 2006, Sigma Xi has presented the Walston Chubb Award for Innovation to honor and promote creativity in science and engineering. 

William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement

Since 1950, the William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement has been awarded annually to a scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to scientific research and has demonstrated an ability to communicate the significance of this research to scientists in other disciplines.
