Request for Nominations for Awards - 2009
This is a call for nominations for the five awards granted by the Texas A&M University Chapter of Sigma Xi each year. The awards include:
- Texas A&M University Distinguished Scientist
- Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher (CV and letters of support optional)
- Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher (CV and letters of support optional)
- Outstanding High School Science Teacher (CV and letters of support optional)
The Distinguished Scientist will be honored and asked to speak at a lecture in the fall of 2009, and each Science Teacher awardee will receive a cash award and a plaque from Sigma Xi honoring their achievement.
Nominations should include the following:
- Nomination Letter
- Curriculum Vita (limited to 10 pages for the two university awards, and 5 pages for the three K-12 science teaching awards)
- Letters of Support (no limit)
Deadline for receipt of nominations is February 12, 2009. The Awards Committee will review the nominations, and awardees will be recognized at the Sigma Xi Induction and Awards Banquet scheduled for April 3, 2009.
